i cant really say which ones my fav but im feeling the style of samples used…and the raw production..no bells no whistles just bangers..
boring and predictable. nothing different sounding.
Spine magazine said Vanderslice’s sound lands somewhere in between Alchemist and Just Blaze. After listening to everything, I think he’s got skills and a good ear, but thought on all but 2 beats he sounds a bit too much like ALC, from the choice of them late 70’s-early 80’s, synth-heavy Rock samples and they way their being used. I would have definitely thought a beat like “Sparks Fly” was done by ALC if I heard without a name attached to it. I think beats like Phoenixville Nights and Stunt Double are banging, but more original sounding to him. As long as he can find a way to use the samples in a way which hasn’t been done already, I think there is some definite potential there.
